China: Store fire kills at least 39






 

At least 39 people were killed in a store fire in the central Chinese province of Jiangxi.

 

According to media reports, the fire broke out in the basement of a store in Geneva city on Wednesday afternoon local time.

 

As soon as the incident was reported, dozens of emergency service personnel have been dispatched to the scene and rescue operations are underway.

 

 

The report states that 39 people have been killed in the accident, while many others are also reported to have been injured.

 

President Xi Jinping has ordered an investigation into the incident.

 

Earlier, 13 children were killed in a fire at a school dormitory in the central Henan province in the past few days.
